The objective in somatic therapy is to address and alleviate symptoms of psychological distress, trauma, or other mental health issues by focusing on the body's sensations and physiological responses. This therapeutic approach recognizes the interconnectedness of the mind and body and aims to help individuals release physical tension, process unresolved emotions, and promote overall well-being. Heal from traumatic experiences by addressing the physical manifestations of trauma stored in the body. Deepen body awareness by a greater sense of emotions and physiological responses. Ground autonomic nervous system by helping individuals achieve a state of balance. Elevate emotional regulation and responses to stress by cultivating greater awareness of bodily sensations and developing healthier coping mechanisms. Michelle Gerardot is a trauma informed somatic coach. She has worked with individuals, couples, adolescents and families. Previously, Michelle was a therapist practicing in hospital and hospice settings and moved into private practice working with military families in 2019. She is a Certified Somatic Coach, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Registered Yoga Teacher, and Internal Family Systems informed (IFS). She continues to receive further training, with a current focus on Meditation and Breathwork practices, Yin and Restorative Yoga Certifications.
